Celebrating our 5th anniversary!
Menorca Preservation are celebrating our 5th anniversary by thanking all the people, entities and local businesses that have contributed to and supported the foundation over the years. In these five years (2017-2022) we have managed to finance more than 70 environmental initiatives focused on protecting, regenerating and conserving Menorca’s natural environment, developed and implemented by more than 15 entities on the island, having allocated a total of 558,833 euros for these purposes. In addition, we have collaborated with more than 20 organisations and have worked together to boost the impact of our actions and to help with fundraising.
Our greatest achievements in these 5 years:
SEA
The creation of the Isla del Aire marine reserve by funding the reactivation of OBSAM’s marine research projects, which were interrupted between 2011 and 2017. In addition, we have funded the last two Moby Mummy marine research campaigns, carried out by the Tursiops Association, which have confirmed the existence of a breeding area for Mediterranean sperm whales in the waters located to the north of Menorca.
LAND
The MENORCA PRESERVADA training programme in sustainable agriculture, designed in collaboration with Agroassessor and currently up and running, which has already been attended by more than 120 people.
CLEAN ENERGY
The financing of the technical team that has made possible the creation of the San Luis Energy Community, the first Energy Community in the Balearic Islands, and which has also catalysed additional financing of more than 200,000 euros from the IDAE and the Balearic Energy Institute for the first photovoltaic installations of the Energy Community.
A big thank you to all of you Menorca lovers who have helped us to get this far!
I’m so proud of the team and supporters of Menorca Preservation. We have incubated and funded some truly game-changing environmental restoration initiatives across the island. Menorca is fast becoming a leader among the islands of the world as humanity figures out how to live harmoniously within nature.
