The Plastic Free Menorca Alliance is seeking people and businesses interested in participating in the second phase of the PescArt Menorca project, focused on the recycling of fishing nets for their reconversion into economically viable products, encouraging the creation of a circular economy. For this purpose, we are organising a workshop open to all interested people and businesses on 25th November from 10 am to 12 noon at the Recinte Firal in Es Mercadal. To attend, please send an e-mail to info@plasticfreemenorca.org.

For the implementation of this second phase of the project, the Plastic Free Menorca Alliance has counted on funding from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), through which it will focus on involving more people and businesses that want to contribute by creating products from fishing nets, to guide and support professionals in their commercialisation process and to continue collaborating with the Foundation for People with Disabilities for the treatment of the nets. Likewise, and thanks to the collaboration of Ports IB and the fishermen’s guilds, two containers have been installed in the ports of Fornells and Ciutadella so that fishermen can deposit the discarded nets.
