“Seeing is Believing” continues inspiring a new connection with the Sea

GOB Menorca

At Menorca Preservation, we are proud to continue supporting Seeing is Believing, an educational initiative led by GOB Menorca and funded alongside the Marilles Foundation. The project encourages children and young people across the island to discover Menorca’s marine environment through curiosity, respect and mindful observation.

Following the success of its first edition, the programme returns this year with new workshops and the ambition to reach even more schools and participants from across Menorca.

The initiative is built around a simple idea: we are more likely to protect what we understand. Through guided snorkelling activities, participants are invited to explore the coastline at a slower pace, observing marine life first-hand while learning to interact with it responsibly and without disturbing its natural balance.

During the workshops, children and young people learn to identify different species and gain a deeper understanding of the relationships that sustain marine ecosystems. By discovering the world hidden beneath the surface, they begin to see Menorca’s coastline as much more than a place for leisure and recreation: it is a living, diverse and fragile ecosystem that deserves to be understood and protected.

This year, more than 100 children and young people are expected to take part in activities taking place at various coastal locations around the island, including Binibèquer and Algaiarens beaches.

Through this new edition of Seeing is Believing, we hope to continue fostering a more conscious and engaged relationship with the sea, helping to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards and strengthen collective commitment to the conservation of Menorca’s marine ecosystems.
