PescArt Menorca launches social trainings
PescArt Menorca launches social trainings thanks to the support of Fundació Sa Nostra and CaixaBank
PescArt Menorca, our pioneering circular economy project , is launching a series of training courses in collaboration with social organisations. These trainings, which have the support of the Fundació Sa Nostra and CaixaBank, seek to promote social cohesion and encourage sustainable entrepreneurship
Starting in Mahón this week, the training will take place from October to December in various municipalities of the island, reaching a total of 100 people thanks to the collaboration of social entities such as Caritas Menorca, the Red Cross and the Foundation for People with Disabilities of Menorca. The training programme includes an introduction to working materials, with special emphasis on fishing nets and other plastic waste, and the development of creative ideas for the production of new craft products. Participants not only acquire technical skills, but also knowledge about the economic viability of their designs and marketing strategies, with a focus on circular economy and sustainability.
The training project is part of the collaboration between the Sa Nostra Foundation and CaixaBank with Menorca Preservation, with a financial contribution of €10,000, within the framework of the ‘Social Action 2024’ call. This call aims to strengthen initiatives of social and environmental impact in the Balearic Islands, promoting the creation of green jobs and cross-sectoral collaboration.
PescArt Menorca aims to convert discarded fishing nets and other plastic waste into new commercially viable products in order to reduce the significant environmental impact of this waste. In this sense, the project aims to restore value to the waste, promoting the circular economy and the symbiosis between the preservation of the environment and the local artisanal sector, while seeking cooperation between the productive sector, i.e. the fishermen’s guilds, and key actors in the social sphere. Thanks to the project, on the one hand, it avoids generating waste, using it as raw material for new commercially viable products. And, on the other hand, it promotes the generation of employment and green economy, combining it with social actions such as these trainings.
