MARE Contest: Last days to take part in it

3rd edition: from 15 May to 15 September

The rules of the third edition have been created based on the three transversal values of the contest: the beauty and richness that we still have in our sea; the need to reconnect with it; and the urgency of promoting actions for the conservation and recovery of the marine and coastal environment. The 2022 call for entries opened on 15 May and until 15 September participants can submit up to 20 digital photographs related to the Balearic and Mediterranean Sea that capture its richness and beauty, as well as the human relationship with the sea, whether they are complaints or success stories. Each photograph will be accompanied by a message related to conservation.

MARE has established four participation profiles: Adult EXPERT (> 18 years old), Adult AMATEUR (> 18 years old), YOUTH (young people between 14-17 years old) and CHILDREN (young people < 14 years old). years), JUVENIL (young people between 14-17 years) and INFANTIL (young people < 14 years) and 5 categories: 1. MARE Animalia; 2. MARE Plantae; 3. MARE Sapiens; 4. MARE Denounces; 5. MARE Nostrum (new category on the Mediterranean).

A total of €10,000 will be distributed over 23 prizes

Cash prizes for the Adult participation and underwater equipment for the Youth participation. The awards at MARE serve to build a collective appreciation of the Balearic Sea and to give more recognition to the photographers who connect the public with the sea.

398 photographs donated for the conservation of the Balearic Sea

40% of the photographs (398 out of 1,009 entries) submitted in the 2nd edition of MARE 2021 have been donated for conservation purposes, a sign of the great generosity and awareness shown by the participants.

A collaborative initiative open to further support

MARE is a collaborative Balearic initiative open to support and donations from other institutions and companies that want to contribute to making the beauty of the Balearic Sea visible and working for its conservation.
It has the financial support of the Marilles Foundation and Fundatur, in collaboration with Menorca Reserva de la Biosfera, IbizaPreservation, Mallorca Preservation Foundation, Menorca Preservation, Save the Med, Iniciatives Mediterrànies, Foro Marino de Ibiza y Formentera, MedGardens and Arrels Marines.
