Menorca Preservation Gala (4th Edition)

Last Thursday, 17 July, the 4th Edition of Menorca Preservation’s Summer Fundraising Gala took place at La Mola Fortress. The event, which has already become a key date in the island’s philanthropic and environmental calendar, brought together 240 people who share a love for the island and its natural values.

“We are thrilled to see more and more people joining this event and actively taking part in the various fundraising initiatives we promote, whether by purchasing tickets for the charitable raffle or bidding in the exclusive experiences auction. Thanks to this collective effort, this year we have raised over €100,000, which will go towards key projects aimed at preserving Menorca’s natural environment — including marine conservation, regenerative agriculture, and tackling plastic pollution, among others,” explained Rebecca Morris, Director of Menorca Preservation.

During the event, the foundation presented its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting the main achievements of the past year. “Thanks to the support of our donors, in 2024 we supported 23 projects in collaboration with 9 local organisations. The result? More biodiversity, less waste, and a community that is increasingly engaged,” the organisation stated.

Among last year’s key achievements, Menorca Preservation noted that more than 2,000 people participated in supported initiatives, and 1,000 children took part in activities designed to strengthen their connection with nature. Additionally, 37 local businesses received technical advice to reduce plastic use thanks to the Plastic Free Menorca Alliance; over 2,600 kg of discarded nets were recycled through the PescArt Menorca initiative; 182 trees were planted with the help of Custòdia Agrària of GOB Menorca; it is estimated that 120 tonnes of CO₂ were captured through regenerative agriculture practices at the S’Ullestrar farm in Ciutadella; and more than 3,500 hectares of marine and terrestrial ecosystems were studied as part of the Shallow Bay Restoration and Conservation project led by OBSAM-IME.

The event was made possible thanks to the many businesses that generously supported the organisation by offering their services. These included S’Algar Catering, which managed the event’s culinary offering; Bodegas Torralbenc, which donated all the wine served during the Gala; and Trifàsic and EVENTSON, who provided the technical support for the evening. Guests also enjoyed live music by Askal’h during both the welcome reception and the closing of the event.

Bidding and Raffles for a Good Cause

The charitable auction, hosted by Beatriz Ordovás — Director of Christie’s Spain and expert in contemporary and digital art — featured experiences and prizes donated by Vestige Santa Ana, Alai Zimmermann, Solo Houses, Venta d’Aubert, Wild by tart, 27mm, Biniarroca, SOM Menorca, Pipet Café, Algendaret Nou and Es Tonador de Custòdia Agrària, who generously contributed seven unique experiences and prizes to help raise funds.

As for the charitable raffle, 10 prizes were drawn, all generously donated by companies and organisations including wecamp, HETRA, Nonna Bazaar, R Collective Studio, Rovellart, Blanca Madruga, Olives Ocean, Sant Joan de Binissaida, Latelier Menorca, and Menorca Music Festival.

Menorca Preservation would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the businesses and partners who contributed to making this charity event a success, helping us raise the maximum amount of funds to support environmental initiatives on the island.
