PescArt Menorca | Casi 1.500 kgs de redes recolectadas en lo que va de año

PescArt Menorca es nuestro proyecto de economía circular que promueve una segunda vida para redes de pesca descartadas y otros materiales como sombrillas y neoprenos, creando colaboración y circularidad.
Durante este año, hasta la fecha, hemos conseguido el siguiente impacto:
🔹 1.490 kgs de redes recolectadas.
🔹 757 kgs de redes recicladas.
🔹 +7 nuevas artistas y artesanas involucradas en la iniciativa (32 en total).

🐮FINCA PILOTO EN AGRICULTURA SOSTENIBLE | Las acciones del Plan de Acción empiezan a dar sus frutos

Nos llegan muy buenas noticias en relación al Plan de Acción de nuestro proyecto “Finca piloto en agricultura sostenible” en colaboración con la Finca S’Ullestrar y The Regen Academy:
🦋 Las franjas vegetales de variedades leñosas que plantamos alrededor de la zona de huerto en abril para fomentar la biodiversidad en la finca están creciendo correctamente.
🐄 Se está llevando a cabo el pastoreo dirigido, al cual las vacas se han adaptado estupendamente y ya se puede ver cómo la hierba crece mejor y con más fuerza.
🦇🐞🐦⬛ También instalamos algunas cajas nido para aves y murciélagos y un hotel de insectos que creemos que muy pronto van a encantar a sus futuros inquilinos.
🎯El proyecto “Finca Piloto en Agricultura Sostenible” tiene como objetivo ayudar a la Finca S’Ullestrar en el proceso de certificación a agricultura ecológica y que su transición sirva para convertirla en una “finca piloto” que inspire y guíe a otras hacia prácticas agrícolas más sostenibles.

🐟 Las bahías someras son espacios únicos de ecosistemas maravillosos que constituyen un auténtico refugio de cría y alimento para las especies que las habitan. Sin embargo, también son las que mayor presión humana sufren, lo que pone en riesgo la conservación de estos importantes tesoros naturales.
🪸 Así, para dar a conocer la vida que se esconde en las bahías de Addaia, Fornells y Cala Teulera y poner en valor la importancia que tiene proteger estos entornos marinos, el Observatorio Socioambiental de Menorca (OBSAM-IME), Menorca Preservation y la Fundación Marilles hemos lanzado la campaña #Sumérgeteenlasbahías.
👉 Esta campaña de comunicación forma parte del proyecto “Conservación y restauración de bahías someras” (2022-2025), desarrollado por el OBSAM-IME con el apoyo de Menorca Preservation y la Fundación Marilles.
🎯 El objetivo principal del proyecto es contribuir a la mejora del estado de conservación de las bahías someras de Menorca, a través de: la redacción de planes de gestión y restauración, la elaboración de nuevas propuestas de estudio, la implementación de acciones de reducción de los impactos, la ejecución de acciones de restauración activa como la replantación de algas del género Cystoseira y el seguimiento del impacto sobre el ecosistema de las acciones que se llevan a cabo.

🌊 PLASTIC FREE MENORCA | Más de 550 personas involucradas en las recogidas de plástico en lo que llevamos de año

🤝 La iniciativa Alianza Plastic Free Menorca nació en 2020 impulsada por Menorca Preservation como una alianza de entidades de Menorca unidas para promover acciones destinadas a reducir la contaminación por plásticos en la isla.
Durante este año, hasta la fecha, hemos conseguido:
✅Involucrar a 592 personas en 21 salidas para recoger plásticos de nuestro litoral, que han logrado recolectar casi 300 kgs, incluyendo microplásticos.
✅Añadir 16 nuevos Puntos de Reutilización de Artículos de Playa a la red de 0 Plastic Experiences: ¡ya casi tenemos 30 puntos repartidos por toda la isla!
✅ Asesorar y animar a reducir el uso y la contaminación por plásticos a 15 empresas a través de nuestra certificación Compromiso Plastic Free Menorca.
✅Ayudar a 19 empresas del sector HoReCa a reducir su consumo de productos de plástico a través del proceso de certificación Plastic Free Balearics.

Observadores del Mar organiza una jornada de snorkel científico en la cual podrás aprender sobre ciencia ciudadana en las aguas de la Reserva Marina del Norte de Menorca.
▪️ Fecha: viernes 6 de septiembre
▪️ Horario: de 9.30 a 11.30h
▪️ Lugar de encuentro: Parking de la Playa de Cavalleria.
▪️ Material necesario: bañador, toalla, botella de agua y equipo de snorkel. Si tienes una cámara sumergible 📷 , ¡no olvides traerla!
▪️ Edad mínima: 12 años.
▪️ IMPORTANTE: Plazas limitadas. Requiere inscripción previa.

PescArt Menorca is our circular economy project that promotes a second life for discarded fishing nets and other materials such as umbrellas and wetsuits, creating collaboration and circularity.
During this year, to date, we have achieved the following impact:
🔹 1,490 kgs of nets collected.

🐮SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PILOT FARM | The Action Plan developments are starting to show results

Great news regardin the Action Plan of our project “Pilot farm in sustainable agriculture” in collaboration with Finca S’Ullestrar and The Regen Academy:
🦋 The vegetable strips of woody varieties that we planted around the vegetable garden area as a way to encourage biodiversity on the farm are growing beautifully.
🐄 Managed grazing is being carried out, to which the cows have adapted very well and we can already see how the grass is growing better and stronger.
🦇🐞🐦⬛ We also installed some nesting boxes for birds and bats and an insect hotel which we believe will soon be a delight to its future guests.
🎯The project ‘Pilot Farm in Sustainable Agriculture’ aims to help Finca S’Ullestrar in the process of becoming organically certified. The goal is that its transition will inspire and guide other farms towards more sustainable agricultural practices.

🪸DIVE INTO MENORCA’S SHALLOW BAYS | Would you like to know more about these environments? Follow our social media campaign on Instagram!

🐟 Shallow bays are unique spaces of wonderful ecosystems that provide an authentic breeding and feeding refuge for the species that inhabit them. However, they are also the ones that suffer the greatest human pressure, threatening its conservation.
🪸 In order to raise awareness of the life hidden in the bays of Addaia, Fornells and Cala Teulera and to highlight the importance of protecting these marine environments, the Socio-environmental Observatory of Menorca (OBSAM-IME), Menorca Preservation and the Marilles Foundation have launched the #Diveintothebays campaign.
👉 This campaign is part of the “Conservation and restoration of shallow bays” project (2022-2025), developed by OBSAM-IME with the support of Menorca Preservation and the Marilles Foundation.
🎯 The main objective of the project is to improve the conservation status of the shallow bays of Menorca, through: the drafting of management and restoration plans, the development of new study proposals, the development of actions to reduce impacts, the implementation of active restoration actions such as the replanting of algae of the Cystoseira genus and the monitoring of the impact on the ecosystem of the actions carried out.

🌊 PLASTIC FREE MENORCA | Over 550 people involved in plastic clean-ups so far this year
|
|
|
🤝 The Plastic Free Menorca Alliance initiative was launched in 2020 by Menorca Preservation as an alliance of Menorcan entities working together to promote initiatives aimed at reducing plastic pollution on the island.
During this year, to date, we have managed to:
✅Involve 592 people in 21 outings to collect plastics from our coastline, which have managed to collect almost 300 kgs, including microplastics.
✅Add 16 new Beach Item Reusable Points to the 0 Plastic Experiences network: we now have almost 30 points spread across the island!
✅Provide advice and guidance to 15 businesses on how to reduce plastic consumption through our Plastic Free Menorca Commitment certification.
✅Help 19 hospitality businesses to reduce their consumption of plastic products through the Plastic Free Balearics certification process.

Observadores del Mar are offering a scientific snorkelling day in which you can learn about citizen science in the waters of the Northern Marine Reserve of Menorca.
▪️ Date: Friday 6th September
▪️ Time: from 9.30am to 11.30am
▪️ Meeting point: Cavalleria beach car park.
▪️ Equipment required: Swimwear, towel, water bottle and snorkelling gear. Don’t forget to bring your waterproof camera 📷 !
▪️ Minimum age: 12 years old.
▪️ PLEASE NOTE: Places are limited. Pre-registration is required. The activity will be conducted in Spanish.
