Who we are
Menorca Preservation is a Spanish Registered Foundation established in November 2017 with the aim of supporting local environmental initiatives.The Foundation has been co-founded by Ben Goldsmith and Fani Medina with the aim of supporting local environmental initiatives.
Menorca Preservation (MeP) is a non-profit foundation which aims to promote environmental awareness and preserve the natural heritage of our wonderful island, working in collaboration with local organisations and environmental heroes.
The Foundation seeks to strengthen the work of local environmental organisations, supporting and catalysing projects that contribute to the protection, conservation and regeneration of our environments. We focus on 4 pillars: Land, Sea, Clean Energy and Plastic Free Menorca.
HOW WE WORK
We set up coordination and collaboration paths with local entities, businesses and public administration. We jointly identify the fields in which Menorca Preservation can contribute to promoting a positive impact on the island, maximising resources and avoiding duplication of efforts.
Local environmental organisations submit their projects to our team. With our guidance and support, they complete and submit their funding applications via our online form. Once submitted, our Steering Committee reviews and evaluates the funding proposals submitted for approval. Further, it jointly selects the approved projects, in accordance with the Foundation’s aims, and approves the funding awarded to these projects. Once the project is approved, we collaborate with the grantee by offering support in several areas of work, such as networking, communications or impact measurement. In parallel, when we detect an environmental problem that is not being addressed by any local entity, we also develop and manage our own projects, such as our Plastic Free Menorca Alliance or our MENORCA PRESERVADA training programme for farmers.
Our people
OUR STEERING COMMITTEE (SC) members come onboard for a minimum period of three years, in order to ensure consistency and cohesion in decision-making.
As a team, they meet six times a year to approve projects, identify fundraising opportunities, and discuss the organisation’s progress.

Rebecca Morris
Local Fund Director
Rebecca was brought up and educated in Menorca. She then went to university in the UK, followed by eight years working for NGO’s (Save the Children and Médecins Sans Frontières) as project coordinator and manager around the Globe – South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Turkey. Rebecca returned to Menorca in 2013 to settle down with her partner and start a family. Rebecca is delighted to be running MEP and to have the opportunity to work towards a sustainable Menorca.

Zaira Criado
Admin Officer
Zaira was born in Barcelona and graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the UAB. A nature and animal lover, she has always maintained a close connection with the natural environment and a strong commitment to environmental conservation. Since childhood, she has also had a strong link with Menorca, which ultimately led her to move to the island to combine passion and work, and she did not hesitate to join MeP to contribute to the conservation of a place that means so much to her.

Sara D'Eustacchio
Comms & Impact
Sara graduated in Journalism in 2011 from the Complutense University of Madrid. Born in Rome in 1988, her family moved to Menorca in 1994, becoming the driving force behind her great interest in nature and environmental protection. She worked for more than 10 years in the aviation sector. She joined the Menorca Preservation team in 2022 as Head of Communication and Impact, a platform that allows her to learn one new thing every day and to contribute to highlighting the incredible work that so many people do for the island we love so much.
