We celebrate the commitment of local businesses to reducing single-use plastics

The Plastic Free Menorca Alliance and Menorca Preservation are celebrating another important milestone in our work to reduce single-use plastics across Menorca’s tourism sector.

Over the past year, the Plastic Free Menorca team, through our Plastic Free Menorca Commitment, has worked closely with hotels and tourism businesses across the island, helping them analyse their operations, identify practical alternatives to single-use plastics and develop long-term strategies to reduce waste.

The results demonstrate the impact that collaboration can achieve. A total of sixteen hospitality establishments belonging to seven companies have been assessed through the project, of which eleven have joined the Plastic Free Menorca programme, achieving an estimated reduction of up to 672 kg of plastic waste per year. Additionally, we have installed ten beach item reuse stations across hotels and beaches around the island.

These achievements have only been possible thanks to the commitment of the participating establishments and the support of easyJet Holidays. At Menorca Preservation, we firmly believe that protecting Menorca is only possible by working together. That is why, through the Plastic Free Menorca Alliance, we continue to support committed businesses, demonstrating that small changes, sustained over time, can make a real difference.

We would like to thank every business that has taken part in this initiative for their commitment and willingness to lead by example, whether by reducing plastic waste generation in their establishments (Minura Cala Galdana, Minura Sur Menorca, Seth 55 Santo Tomás, Seth Isla Paraiso, Seth Mestral & Llebeig, Seth Port Ciutadella, Seth Punta Prima, Seth Sa Mirada, Seth Santo Tomás, La Quinta Menorca and Zafiro Menorca) or by managing a beach item reuse station at their premises (Gran Sagitario Hotel, MarSenses Hotels, Goldcar, OK Mobility and ClickRent).
