The show “The Magic of Recycling” arrives in Menorca

226 pupils take part in the show organised by Menorca Preservation as part of the Balearic-wide project Tejiendo Futuro

The children’s show “The Magic of Recycling” has landed on the island thanks to Menorca Preservation, an initiative designed to inspire the magic of sustainability. The show, originally developed in 2024 by IbizaPreservation and the Ibiza Magic Association (AMIF), is now being brought to the rest of the Balearic Islands with the support of Depeche Mode and Hublot through the global environmental network Conservation Collective.

The event took place this morning at the Orfeó Maonès, where 226 pupils from Years 5 and 6 from four schools took part “to enjoy an educational and entertaining experience focused on the importance of caring for the environment,” as stated by the environmental foundation.

During the performance, magicians Dantés Junior and Alexis, accompanied by actress Gemma Moll, guided the audience through games, tricks and visual effects to teach sustainable practices in an engaging way, sparking in the children the desire to become “the heroes and heroines the planet needs”.

According to the children, the show was “really cool because they did impossible things” (Mar, CEIP Mestre Durán), “exciting” (Iria, CEIP Mestre Durán), “very well put together” (Marcel, CEIP Sa Graduada), and “fun” (Daiki, CEIP Sa Graduada). For his part, Juan Esteban, teacher at CEIP Sa Graduada, commented that it was “an educational performance that was also fun and surprising; without a doubt, it’s the best way to learn”.

Núria Sintes, project coordinator at Menorca Preservation, states that “for Menorca Preservation, bringing The Magic of Recycling to the island’s schools is a fantastic opportunity to spark awareness from childhood. We believe that environmental education can be as inspiring as it is fun, and magic helps us connect with children through emotion and surprise. If we’ve managed to get them to leave the theatre wanting to look after the planet by paying attention to small, everyday gestures at home, then we’ve achieved something truly valuable.”

The initiative forms part of “Tejiendo Futuro: Alliance for the Preservation of the Balearics”, a collaboration between Menorca Preservation, IbizaPreservation and Mallorca Preservation, all members of the Conservation Collective. The joint project focuses on tackling plastic pollution across the archipelago through three lines of action: scientific research, promotion of the circular economy, and public awareness.

The Magic of Recycling concludes its journey in Menorca after being performed in Mallorca last October and in Ibiza and Formentera in mid-November. This initiative perfectly reflects the collaborative spirit of the project, which aims to build a more sustainable future for the Balearic Islands as a whole.

Menorca Preservation extends its thanks to the Orfeó Maonès for providing the venue, to EVENTSON for technical support, and to all the participating schools.
