“2nd Participatory Forum of the Illa de l’Aire Marine Reserve”

The event will bring together public administrations, organisations, businesses, researchers and citizens to discuss new joint actions for management and conservation.

Next Tuesday, 11 November 2025, from 17:30 to 20:00, the Sala Albert Camus in Sant Lluís will host the 2nd Participatory Forum of the Illa de l’Aire Marine Reserve (RMIA), a space for dialogue and exchange organised by the Fòrum Illa de l’Aire, the community project led by Menorca Preservation, with the collaboration of the Marilles Foundation, the support of the Leader Island of Menorca Association and the Sant Lluís Town Council, and the technical involvement of GOB Menorca and OBSAM-IME.

The forum aims to continue the participatory governance process launched in February this year, which seeks to involve all sectors linked to the Illa de l’Aire Marine Reserve—public administrations, environmental organisations, fishers, diving centres, tourism businesses, researchers and citizens—in the management and care of this valuable protected marine area.

During the event, the actions and progress made since the establishment of the Forum will be presented, followed by participatory activities and open debates to define proposed actions for 2026. The meeting will conclude with a final pica-pica to continue sharing impressions in a relaxed setting.

“The Fòrum Illa de l’Aire has shown that community participation not only enriches the management of the reserve but also fosters a shared sense of responsibility and belonging towards this very special marine space,” says Aina Blanco-Magadán, project coordinator at Menorca Preservation.

An open and collaborative process

The creation of the RMIA Participatory Forum responds to the need to integrate the community’s voice into the management of the protected marine area, reinforcing shared responsibility in decision-making and in monitoring the actions carried out.

The Fòrum Illa de l’Aire invites all interested individuals and organisations to take part in this new session and to contribute actively to the conservation of the reserve. Participation is free and open to everyone. We kindly ask interested participants to register in advance using the form below, which will help us plan the event and take into account any linguistic, accessibility or childcare needs.
